I Love Women Who Play Cello by E.L. Freifeld

I've been meaning to tell you all these years
I love women who play cello
I never told her, had the chance
I never told a woman I love women who
play cello and why I love them so much

I love women who play cello because they
spread their legs for their instrument
shut their eyes behind spectacles listening
to music we can never hear but playing
those fingers ah those fingers firm
as she plays those lower strings from push return

she's finished now and lays her cello down
I remove her glasses and see strange chords vibrating
then plays me like her music string and bow
I am her cello now

I would have made a revolution had she but asked, anything
